Photos of Baby Photo Competition Winner

It all started when I saw an article in the South Manchester Reporter about three West Didsbury mums who were about to hold a party for local mums, toddlers and babies to raise funds for Oxfam. I sent them a Photo Shoot Voucher as a raffle prize and the lucky winner was Lucy from Withington.

A couple of months later I went to Lucy’s home to photograph her (just) one year old baby girl and hear are some of the results from the photo shoot.

Toddler Photo Shoot in Manchester

Here are some photographs from a photo shoot in West Didsbury of a one year old boy. He had just learned to walk and had a very cute habit of sucking his thumb with one hand and holding his ear with the other – I had to get some photos of that!  The toddler had a lovely stripy chair that he always sat in before bedtime to have his milk – when we sat him in it for a photograph he went all sleepy and wanted to lie down, he must have thought it was bedtime.

A Family Portrait

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely family in Chorlton, Manchester.  The main aim of the photo shoot was to get a fantastic photograph of Sophie, Tony and their two gorgeous children to give to Granny for her 70th birthday.  Their baby boy is just three months old so it was an opportunity to get some first photos of him as well as some more pictures of their happy, three-year-old daughter.

The little girl laughed and smiled all the way through the photo shoot.  The baby was just bemused by it all, but he was impeccably behaved!

Nursery Photographs

I took some photographs at Echoes Day Nursery in the centre of Manchester last week. My daughter used to go to this nursery – all her friends have left now but it was great to see some of the staff again who looked after her so well while she was there. I photographed several of the younger brothers and sisters of my daughter’s friends – I was amazed by how much like their siblings most of them look. I’ll be taking the photograph proofs in next week – hopefully the parents and carers will be pleased with them.  I am offering the choice of colour or black and white photos this time and hope that they will make great Christmas gifts.

The ‘Granny Photo’ – Perfect Present for a Relative

Quite often when I do a shoot, the parent wants a really nice photo of their children to give as a present to granny or other relatives. We call this the ‘granny photo’. It’s usually quite a traditional shot with the children facing the camera and with big smiles on their faces. I try to make the smiles seem natural, rather than the ‘say cheese’ variety.  It is all about the expressions on the children’s faces.

I took some photographs of this four year old girl and her two year old brother for their parents Tammy and Michael last week. Here are some of the shots that would make perfect Christmas presents for granny!

Happy Photos of a Two Year Old

This photogenic little girl is just two years old.  Her dad bought a photo shoot Gift Voucher as a Christmas present for Kate, her grandmother.   I took the photographs at Kate’s house in Chorlton, Manchester.

The little girl loved playing, as children of this age do.  She had lots of fun playing with her doll and when Kate blew her some bubbles she couldn’t stop laughing.  In fact, every time she looked at Kate she had a big grin on her face!

Chorlton Family Photography Publicity Cards – New Photos

These are the two children I photographed last year and they became the cover stars for my Chorlton Family Photography publicity cards.  I photographed them again last week and here they are – almost a year older but still as gorgeous as ever.

Free Prize Draw

Earlier in the year Rachel won my free prize draw after entering it at a baby group held in West Didsbury. She won a free photo shoot of her baby daughter plus a montage photograph made up of nine of her favourite images. I photographed her baby daughter at their home in Old Trafford when she had just learned to sit up and was extremely interested in putting all her toys into her mouth. It made for some very cute photographs. I am planning to hold another Free Prize Draw before Christmas so look out for details.

Baby’s First Year Voucher

Cath’s colleagues bought her a Baby’s First Year Voucher as a gift when she went off on maternity leave.  The voucher entitles her to three photo shoots (each including a photograph) of the baby to record how he grows in his first year.  I took the first set of photographs when her baby boy was just three months old – he smiled a lot at his mum and I managed to capture some of those smiles.  I’m really looking forward to seeing how much he’s grown at the next photo shoot – by then he should be sitting up, maybe even crawling.
