It’s always lovely to return to photograph a family.  I have photographed Hannah and Ed’s first baby boy (now age 2) three times – she had a Baby’s First Year Voucher for a gift.  Now they have a new addition to the family and another Baby’s First Year Voucher!  They invited me to their home in Heaton Moor to take some pictures of the latest little one.

Twins Photography in Didsbury, Manchester

This is the third time I have photographed these (nearly) two year old twins, documenting them growing from babies into toddlers.

We decided to take some photos out in the garden for a change.  It meant the twins could run round and have a good time in their playhouse and look at the flowers and other fascinating things.  It was an overcast day (no rain – unusual for Manchester!) meaning the light was lovely and soft.

Baby Girl Photographs in Chorlton

Tessa wanted some lovely photos of her baby girl for Christmas presents so I photographed her gorgeous baby girl on a snowy day just before Christmas.

Dad is a big Manchester United fan so half way through the photo shoot the baby had a quick change of outfit into her Man U babygro!

Children’s Photos in the Wirral

When Elena and her family lived in Didsbury I photographed their baby boy.  Now the family have moved to the Wirral and have a new baby girl.  They invited me down to the Wirral to take her photo as well.

They had a framed collection of nine photographs for the little boy and now they wanted a similar one to match with photos of their little girl.

This was a fun photo shoot.  Baby girl posed and smiled all the way through, while little boy (now aged two) didn’t stay still for one minute!

I recently photographed two sisters in Cheshire, a four year old and a two year old. These two really seemed to enjoy having their photos taken but came into their own when they changed into their little ballet skirts and did a bit of  dancing and twirling.

Photographing Your Newborn Baby

I wrote this mini article for the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) Newsletter.

How to Get a Great Photograph of Your Newborn Baby

Karen Morrison of Chorlton Family Photography gives three top tips on how to pose your newborn baby.

It can be difficult getting a good photo of a newborn baby.  Lack of head control means that if you sit them up their head sinks into their body and all those chins make them look like a young Winston Churchill!

So here are three tried and tested ideas for posing your newborn baby for a great photograph.

1. Lie the baby on his/her back with your forearms beneath the body and your hands cupped beneath the head. Hold the baby slightly out in front of you.
2. Hold the baby over your shoulder.  You have your back to the camera and the baby’s head rests on your shoulder.
3. Lie the baby on his/her front along the length of one arm. Cradle the head in your hand and turn it slightly to face the camera.  You need to be strong for this one!

Photographs of Didsbury Children

I photographed Gina’s two children, a boy and a girl age 6 and 5.   Gina wanted a big picture of them for her kitchen wall.

This was a fun photo shoot – the little girl really enjoyed it and loved posing for the camera.  The little boy also had fun, messing around and entertaining his little sister.
